Sunday, December 19th, 20-10...the LORD has done

great things for me And happy, blest & Glorious is

that Name! i am put in mind of that BEATLES' song

which goes like this: Mother Mary comes to me,

speaking words of Wisdom,"Let it Be." [done unto me

as You, GABRIEL, have commanded.] My own Sister

MAISY sent me two (2) packages toward CAT's haus

and i pickt them up Aday. {i shan't open them until

the 25th} At the office Christmas party, KATHY of the

cleaning contingent gifted me a pair of schteel-toed

Oxfords; ROSE [anothre mothre of mine] sent me off

with a passel of food from the self=same Party. Can

anyone not gain weight and Graces from the Season?

i am thus surrounded by gifts & Invitations! STONY

wants me to sup with him & his on Xmas dé...CAT will

have me the following Saterday for Pork und Kraut.

{it'll be the third Tradition of such} i scarcely Believe

the Year is ending, and i end it Glowing not so good!

i'll recovre of it, Eventual. The stalag is undecorated

but werking in fine Ordre; it is Ever like camping from

day unto day. My beard is a fine mess which i believe

i'll Winnow for the first week of Twenty-Eleven, right

down to the roots. {it has kept out the cold, this year}

Saturdé, Octobre 18th, °°8...Who knew the Yard would

be so busy on such a cool, autumnal day? We overfilled

the five (5) Dumpsters® and altho i wanted to continue

celebrating the 'Feast of Booths', i hardly found

Time to set in my own Slack=shack! Come and go...

Cuddie FRANK was kind enuf to ferry me home=wise.

Wednesday, Octobre 19, 2005...I'm getting those familiar

questions again: "How late are you guys open?", "When do you

guys close for the year?" And "Do you guys take [this crud]?" TO

which i lovingly respond,"Hey~it's only me here, a Naked singleton

in clean jeans & winter woolies. {i am one & one is all} The yard

waste & recycling Universe opens and closes within me, and there

are no Others without." Yet~it wouldn't serve my good customers

well to thus blow their minds!

Friday, Octobre 22nd, 2°1°...(twenty, ten)...Sanctified detritus!

My hard drive is eighty-nine percent (89%) full! And it only

took me ten Years to do it. {Kay shoulda woulda coulda never

gifted me with Technology; it's been nothing but a burden} By

the Bye, this old Dell® came fully loaded with sixty-nine (69)

gigabytes of mammary from the last Millennium. i thot it

would last me forever & ever. Time and Life resolutely change.

Two weeks ago, i cleaned with MONICA; last night i cleaned

[vacuumed] with CATHY. These are my gentle girls. i join the

cleaning crew whenever it is Offered, on account of the extra

cabbeej [cabbage/cash]. Plus+, it is eminently interesting to go

through the Parish building functionarily, to catch up on the

general News. It's ne'er been a viable Replacement of my first

Duty as the yard master, but it is delightfull to do occasionally.

The bicycle is in the boof; i rode it up last evening for the extra

Time. i permitted, graciously, CATHY to ride me 'home' in her

Jeep®. It's getting quite cold & windy for=to ride the byke...but

i'll make the best use of it while Days allow. Monday last, i

accidentally made a marathon on the byke by leafing my haus

keys in the Boof! {i am beside myself, shtill, that i remembered

to pack & carry Everything but them two keys} The very purpose

of scaling back my Autumnal hours was to ease my Travels in

the darkness~Yet i grinded up and back Perfectly, a truly

seasoned Cyclist all and all. {If Slack can do this, could he not

almost attempt to do Any=Thing?} And, if anyone cares to note

it--the up & down trips are six and a half miles, more or less,

from point-to-point...i pedalled twenty-five (25) or twenty-seven

(27) miles...and will never again forget my latch=keys on account

of my gifted & unnamed byke! [my rider name is JACK-KNIFE

because of a quite harsh Dismount i did at Maple and Madison

many, many months Ago.] Sun=Day, Octobre 24th, 2°1°...it was

an expecially good riding morning, this One. i tasted my two (2)

cups of moka early on & parkt my schteed next to the Episcopal

cherch off Gresser Park. MARIA was glad to have my 'signage'

at her Communion AND there was also a magnificent brunch for

Celebraxn Sundé...of which i did fellowship for All Good. {i am

Provided for in all these houses, because i Provide something}

The fountain in the park is drained & the frogs are bagged. No

pennies of mine can be found in such a desolate Oasis. *plink*

i also communed with my Presbytry, because i hadn't gone to

their Full Service in a while. They welcome me back because i

Supplicate with DONALD through the week. [the Turtle used to

ask me,"What cherch are You going to Sunday?" Now, he knows

to ask,"What cherches are You going to?"] The many extra hauses!

Tuesday, Octobre 26th, 2°1°...Yesterdé and Saterdé were both

busy at the parish-yard, my werkplace. The good weathre has

brot out the regulars as well as the many Trux & Trailers...the

hours are peculiar though. {No=one, including my=self, is yet

quite used to Daylight yardwerk, nine to five} That is, i get to

werk through the Wintre again but on a sunnier schedule. The

morning commute is dawnly, coolly casual; the five o'clock quit

and roll-down is more like a defensif deal with othre Commuters.

Soon enuf~i'll schtow the byke somewhere and get back to

bundling & bussing through the schnow & ice. {i can see the

future from where i Live, and election day scares me more than

Halloween} And darkness--i dearly love the darkness, crowding.

Presently, i pause to schlice gifted bread And to look after my

butter, lettuce, milk & broccoli on a Tuesday?? It ponders me

much as well. Plus+, i am honing my Night Driving skills!

Last Year: danced at a wedding on the Coast

These^ things are already two (2) years gone and i rarely

haf the Time to modify the history. Xpecially in the current,

immediate book-face era! Presence of the Present, i oughta

write about the now. [though the past ever informs us]

Tuesday, September 14th, 2o1o...the walls of the stalag were

beautifully painted by the Concierge, that QUAKERTON, But

the schtairwell running carpets became schtained with paint

in the Process. So~he had to rip them out in fine disconvenience

toward All his new Guests. Amorro, some new running rugs

will be establisht, disconcerting any remaining ordre allto!

Aday, the QUAKERTON finally fixt the showre bracket which

was broken by MIAMI more than a Year ago, when i first moved

in AND the good fraternal showre box was installed acause i

came to the building. {there is ever great upbuilding where

there is also great turbulence} And othre niceties.

Fortunately, i have my many Famblies & Houses to go to

when the hostelry is unsettled; i have done all the great things

in Publik rooms, xcluding actual bathing Or shaving! i know of

my friendly Afflicted ones THAT they have compromised these

ordinaries more than i Have. Schtill~they are some of the nicest

folk i've ever come to know. {WE only look ungrateful} Plus+,

i gif back toward my Blessings whenever & wherever i can, as

a suffering servant of universal faults and errors. With Love.

Yester, i zoomed downtown on my schteed And at CITY HALL

i found three (3) of my pastors confabulating [MARIA episcopal,

JAMES methodicle & RICHARD of the Soop Kitchen ministry].

Xclaimed i,«Holy crud! A triumvirate!» At least two of them Love

me acause they see me all the Time. AND there's a joke in there

somewhere according to my Moravian customer, SHARON. The

more i am known, the schmaller i become; yet it Fascinates me,

the diversity of evrything i Xperience. i am joined to it.

It only occured to me to write in this fashion Acause my niece,

the name=sake, askt after my Welfare...my wellfaring is really

quite good undre the Conditions which Prevail. And i'll never

catch up to the good filosofy i find, on account of it keeps getting

who askt me, i am Attending to matters both great & small

modern day text~it was Thursday, July 29th, when i had to move

all my crud from #3 to #2; the Concierge's assistant helpt with

the big units. Thus~the turmoil began. i got some bread from the

LUTHERANS and campt out early on only my mattress in that

room, which also contained all the Painting paraphernalia.

Friday, i rose dawnly there, took a showre, had horrible coffee,

prayed the List and biked the remaindre of the Day. That is,

after accomplishing all my necessaries, i rode up to werk on the

cleaning crew...MONICA was surprised to see me. WE did our

normal schweep=through and she even toted the bike in her

truk to my "home". Saturday, i bugged out early again...and had

a rather good dé upon the Yard. [...incidental ellipsis...] That night

i schlept in #5 [where CHICAGO lived until he schnuck out of the

stalag in the dead=of=day]. {i thot i was camping for the past

year~the current tumult is like sub=camping}

What can be said of August? it's always like this! i call it the

moving month, with multiple transitions. For an entire week i

did the sub=camping~then moved back into my Painted room.

And i werkt the extra [KATHY vacation] cleaning werk acause it

was the best way to increase wages. Plus+, i was askt.

Of the blood pressures of the week=end, i can report: 132/85,

109/80p81, 122/73p98...with my best resting pulse of seventy

six [after biking?!] Apparently my medicines are doing their Job.

SunDay, the first of August, i took a long, plain showre to benefit

my musculature...byke muscles, cleaning muscles & Ordinaries.

i communed with the EPISCOPALS and MIAMI served me a small

portion of his chicken with spanish rice. [he seasons too heavily.]

TEXT: This morning...After a power nap and the obligatory

visit to the Publik Library, i defrosted my tiny freezer

and played a game of chess with Roomy #4. Wednesdé was the

day the bicycle rode me more than i rode it. That is, she

rode on the bus to werk And cuddy=buddy FRANK toted her and

me 'home' on his pickup truck. That was the werkdé i left my

ishpod in the Slack=shack.

Thursday, [o7.o9^]...i gave my day=pass to Roomy #2 for his

Aventures in the later day. The rain came and went, wildly.

Somehow i made a recycle walk without getting moist...

Friday was all about getting the money to Deserving persons.

Something else interesting happened that day: as i was walking

on the mall between Sixth & Fifth Avenue, a fellow Afflicted

one [a woman in a small group] called out to me, "Hey, kid."

i responded with my usual & generic,"Hey, there." *joining*

Saterdé was hotly sunny (82°) yet strangely fluid. There were

many customers who came to the Parish, but it wasn't crushing.

And of the ones who came, quite a few brot me beverages [birch

beer, lemonade & iced tea]. that's^ much how it happened.

Sunday, July 25th, 2o-1o...such goings=on! The tumult of

turmoil is my milieu. That mondé, the 19th, i entertained

lightly, hotly 'pon the Yard. Kay called me near closing and

caught me up on herself. Yet~if she had talkt a mere ten more

minutes, i wouldn'ta been caught riding in the rain without my

satchel! i doubled back for it. Now, tuesdé, i gathered only

bread from the LUTHERANS, on account of they were serving hot

dogs & baked beans [i haf an Affliction against Bostonian

beans]. It also happened that early evening that the LIBRARY

Neighbourhood Association did a walkabout with the Mayor of the
faer city. For some reason, i received a gifted apple juice

from the Proprietors of the Vietnamese shop [i wandered in with

the Mayor & the Police]. Neighbours walking amongst Neighbours.

WèdnèsDay was weird as well, which is to say, more Unusual

than these othre summer days & Times. i had a small list of

favores to do for MIAMI afore werk, and becos i failt at the

very first one...no othre kindnesses did follo. {Kismet} WE

look out for each othre in the many Regards, but sometimes a

'plan' just doesn't come togethre. Later, a Yard Customer askt

me where the 'fones' went & thinking that He meant fone=boox,

i told him where to go. They were a plastic bagfull of phones!

Thor'sDay was only Thor'sDay when i remembred to trash out.

And Friday was the Replenishment with Justifacation all=to,

visiting my friends at the Market, warshing of my filthy jeans

in the Lord's machine...a fixation on the Fixatifs which must

be accomplisht Afore my next first (1st) dé of Werk.

Saternial Day was super=spexial and superlatif, even iffen it

WAS THE HOTTEST DAMNABLE DAY of the Year. The concierge is

painting like a hausfire AND it's best to schteer clear of his

grand intents. So~i bicycled upwise quite early and directed a

schmall but dedicated crew of Customers. ROSE, the Receptionist

and BOB, her husband came around Two; they found their way back

thru the blockt off entrances to Give me an orange schlushy.

[There's a traffik light going in at my most peripheral left

eye notice of the main road; it curtailed a good many of my

favourite cuddies, i suppose.] It was the turtle who fetcht me

from my oppressif hotness, that evening, AND He even fixated my

conveyance into the trunk of his Cobalt. He had been attending

a grade=school reunion at a girl's haus in Town. Over=more, He

will come back again and again over these week=ends becos He

must attend his fambly. TODD's natural Father just recently

travelled into the bosom of Yeshua...and though my Brothre is

the itinerant Turtle, he travels far & well to complete those

Blessed accomplishments which adhere to his faint, fair Soul.

WE ate like brothres at the ice=cream ristorante--he lightly of

a weiner and me of an especial fine pollo bruschetta con queso

Mozzarella. {it reminded me, his, of the Gratitude luncheon i

had skippt!} In the parking lot across from STALAG twenty=two,

we fixt back the byke for my next dé...The painting of the

rooming haus proceeds apace. i would write of it within the

Monday, June 23rd, oh=eight...what will we do without GEORGE CARLIN to point out our

collectif Ridiculosity? i spose we'll manage. The bus was not crowded todé but the AC

was icy cool. At least on the inbound. The chippy saw me off in the woods for the

outbound. [it ate the carrot i gave it but left the celery alone] My neighbours in unit #2

are Young & bright. Iffen the wind dies down and the rivers settle, i believe it's gonna

Thursday was productif and lucky...a room near the library

was Discovered. For dinner, we attended an event called Taste

Of The Market. This [Friday] morning, The Engineer arose just

before me and gave BLADE yet another driving lesson; HE^ later

let me drive the black beauty all over the Walley on our perfect

mission to fetch me a Room. i signed the paperwork at Four.

Amorro [Tuesday, the Third, And7], marks my independence

day. It's the first Anniversary of the big move from HANE's Hovel

to [the four=banger]. And what a great Year it's been! i wouldn't

trade a Moment of it for a winning lottery ticket [not quite true].

Over=more, no grand pianoes have yet fallen on this faer head. So,

i'm gonna watch the Fire=werks from the Athletik fields on Wèzné

and pray thereafter to my own fierce G that i continue to thrive on

the parapet of my choice. i know the meaning of Liberty; all those

Independence Day Sundé, July Fourth, 2o1o...i went to

the reading of the DECLARATION at the cherch where the

bell was hid, and all i got was this cheap tri=cornered

hat. Which is to say, that it was more than worth the

ride to Zion to participate in the liberate festivities!

[Rocinante rested out=side the cherch, unmolested, from

ten till two.] Plus+, it was good to be out of the Sun.

Mondé, the 28th of June was a favoured favourable dé Whence

i acquired the cyclocomputre from CAT that her boyfriend had

(20) functions on the bike like a mad professional Rider.

{For the record, i am a schpinner NOT a plunger} Yet~it's yust

the bell to warn walkers that i drife like an Italian. Forget

altho it was a very schteamy morning, i made it to the Viewing

for the fambly farmacist who took care of: Hane, Mack, me [some]

AND the werld's nastiest diabetic cat, Boogerag. {from the

Service i gleaned that RICHARD HENRY was a fambly farmacist to

everyone in that Neighbourhood} Then i pedalled back to the frat

[bunkhaus is too long a werd] to secure the front office. *pant*

Of Yesterdé, i can say much. The COUNTY facility was closed, along

with Administraxn, Publik Werks and the library. It was hardly

werth it for me to go to werk in the blistery heat...yet i hadn't

been called off of it! [Independence Day is ever a fickle break.]

Much as i abhor shortening my own cheque, i bagged werk at three.

There were nearly no cuddies and the bins were flowed=over. What

more OR else could i do while my Yard thermometre rèad 102°f?

[for note, my readings of Pressure at the halfwé up were 111 over

80 pulsing 69.] The only thing werse in bike=riding than a head

wind IS a hot head=wind. Over=more, i thank goodness for the A/C

provided in the frat for All the guests who haf schtrength to

use it Judiciously. By Way of closing, AND to schtay true to the

ideals of Pyramidal [Masonic?] journalism...i'll publish these

boring schtatisticle numbres i gathered from my Trip up=hill this

last Saterdé--in forty-two minutes & seventeen seconds, i pedalled

five point seventy-six miles. {it was Leisurely} My average speed

was eight and one quarter miles per hour; my maximum schpeed was

sixteen and three quarters MPH. My averaged pulse was 115; my

greatest heart=rate was 155 [*see the lowest resting rate of sixty

nine abof^]. For comparison~my best down=hill ride from werk to

the frat is thirty five minutes wheel=by=wheel, door=to=door...

i cannot wreck the black bolt [Rocinante] for she is a gift AND i

dasn't Severe my=own=self on account of Gracious Mercies! i adhere

The short answer is that Two dollars doesn't go as far as it

used to...and the politically complex answer is that we will,

as Americans, run out of both cash & "oil" in about thirty (30)

years. I'll be a nearly old man by then & much accustomed to

riding my bicycle everywhere. {i cheat~i have Visited the future}

Less=the=never, it's long past time for us to cogitate these

impending scenarios. Energy! My Pop knew it was finite when

he graduated college. Ever more the much=so today.

Tuesday, June 9th, '9...the brothers are togethre yet again, and

ruining the Town both individually and as a pair. It was rude of

me to surprise him with my ongoing housing problems on the first

day back, but he has come to 'straighten out' such horrible

enter this current billetry, i knew Not that i would become a

rodent=killer & a bicycle mechanic. TATCWIP! Yet there is nothing

high nor low, true nor false which Impedes my Roomy avancement.

MIAMI said to me yester,"Boo, You're the only Person i have seen

who knows how to Live with People, like another human being." It

is the occasional maus visitation which keeps us caring. *squeak*

freestyle==on this blue Friday, June 11th, 2o1o, i've been on the

run Collecting up the money for the Concierge. [also a squeaker!]

The hotel is at full occupancy, with the addition of the tall and

lean HOOSIER turned HOOFTY [a white guy about my age who was born

in Indianapolis but grew up in the Walley]. He recruited me Yester

to haul up his box=schpring and mattress, which i was glad to do

AND he gave me a coupla bux for it. Then, he tuned my guitar...

a very fine fellow for the 'haunted' Room Four. There are worse

things than living in a virtual monastery?! {WE get along as WE

go along, rarely crossing each othre up} JERSEY is packing to leaf

for Florida this month, and i will surely miss him when he goes.

[is Florida the new centre of the Multiverse, acause the turtle

and i went there??] The dés are bonito living in the big city--

though we had two (2) schtinking hot days, folloed by two (2)

cloudy drenching days [my suede shoes are schtill drying out from

the Wèzné walk home.] i would suffer this greatness continually

in Paradise iffen it were permitted; wait! i'm already in Eden.

Tuesday, May 19th, +9...this might could be the Last primary

whence i vote of a certain party afore switching back to

anothre certain party. Yet, acause i haf been playing in the

I was #39 at my actual polling station, but i had chances of

the day to pass a numbre of othres. Like the County Centre

as i was downtown & like the Lutheran cherch where

i hold partial membership. Sunday, May 16th, 2010...it was

the Turtle who carted me off the Yard last night with ROCKY

to a convivial dinner, leafing me to schtow Rocinante in the

shed. Amorro, acause i haf been biking all=the=way, i shall

be obliged to Comfort JOHN the bus=drifer that i haven't

abandoned the W route! There were six (6) roll=offs that day

AND we filled them all to bursting. [bless wind and hail^]

i shoulda woulda coulda switcht back to anothre Party just

to weigh in on ARLEN's battle this Tuesdé; i will simply Vote

the othre races into Confusion, as alway. ARLEN may do well

enuf on his own, in whatevre Party he chooses, Scottishly.

Thursdé was an Ascension celebration at the LUTHERAN cherch

which welcomed me when i first moved onto Sixteenth Avenue;

the coffee was schtrong & the goodies were filling. AND i

rode my wheels both to und from. {the Bishop presided} Then,

Frydé, i anchored top=side at the METHODIST food=bank...

these are things which happen in my Ordinary time. There was

a dust=up Tuesdé in the Soop Kitchen over the sitting of a

tia in the Place of veteran JOHN; the chicken was tasty and

some Forgivenesses applied. {kitchens are well attended Now}

The man who gave me the bicycle is Always checking out for

me and it. [i coulda moved into a haus of his inschtead of

my Glorious bunkhaus.] The Concierge is shewing room Four

to any & all Comers...WE would do well to entertain anothre

ESTHER, KERRY or Señor BORGES. Life in the City.

Aday, we MORAVIANS bid farewell to RUSS, the Junior Pastor.

Customer who brang grass Apologised on his retourn. i

musta made an Impression--one that should carry me forth

against further contraband. El Camino RON brot me two (2)

sodas as he offloaded many pine branches...the girl who

signs my PayStubs ferried me Home at the close of gates.

[the Bethel bunky gave us all tacos; CHICAGO ate Pizza]

Thor'sdé was a day of scarcity--my voice was the only

echo for the pastor of the PRESBYTRY...and my coin was less

than i could lend to MIAMI for anything. Yet~WE all went

forwise into the werld of werk and came out t'othre end.

i made a point my=self of defrosting the rented Fridge. [i

coulda built an igloo on the curb] Friday was a day of much

bettre Attending! There were seven (7) for the litany, just

three short of a minion; the refreshment of the food=bank

was nearly Perfect in its numbre of nine (9) or thereof.

{every minion calls for a recitation of the Prayer: HaRuch

Adhonai} Regardless of much, i collected my newsprints

from PEARL at the market, paid my rent through the Pawnshop

and warsht my sheets and jeans for the week up=present.

The light in the hallway has been too much--even though

the electricity within JERSEY's hut went out just over the

Visitation of his net=friend SARAH [just met]. It's a pain

in the prison to live in such a variable bunkhaus, with all

its drama. id est, i'd rathre Live here than anyplace else,

as yet. Sister AMY askt after me this morning, like i was

an afflicted one, But i preferred to Comment on her bright

blonde high=lights & to ask aftre Her four month infant!

Friday, Avril Nine, 2o1o...15:30:01, CHICAGO just strold

past my open door, Home from the cheese=factory. Para me,

it was the beautiful dé to ride the bicycleta Everywhere.

[MIAMI askt where i was going and i pointed my fingre to

the West, thru the building] TERRY at the Market sold me

my longs & gave me the Yesterpapre...i paid off LIZA of the

Doctor's office on my way to the pool. id est, the pool and

bubblers are not Serviceable as yet~BUT i can schtart the

sudoku by the crackling crick on such a fine day. Numerals!

Spring, and i must go [did go] to the college art museum

for a fine filling rest of the Soul AND a collecting of

gratis post=cards (3). There were also tours of the skool

going on about the same Time & it^ made me feel Younger.

Thence i pedalled Eastwise to the Place of money ordres.

{it would do no good to travel the werld so well Without

additionally making Provision for the concierge} At 11:40

this morning, i parkt my bike at a bench in my LivingRoom,

that publik park where the Bands play, to finish Puxxles.

Thence, on the Lunch=Hour, i visited my city hall to see

my Municiple moneys. {they are fine and forthright} It was

the LIBRARY LivingRoom where i finisht the yester-puxxles

AND did my Xtra reading of Scientia and the daily news.

By which Time, the bunkhaus was deserted to my schtowing of

the bicycle & othre things which Impend my householdry...

which is to say, long=wise, that i am Yet in the middle of

my middling Day--caring for Every=thing that comes my Way.

modern [Friday, March 26th, 2010] text: i would

Memorialise ROBERT CULP for his fine career on film

and television...i liked him most as the Government

Agent in GREATEST AMERICAN HERO. i also have to

pay tribute to a local woman, artists' model, patron of

the Arts & fine character...BARBA-DEL. (only one name

is needed for those of us who loved her.) it's a funny

thing but i had seen more of her recently, though i've

known her maybe twenty years. Both to Paradise!

Last saterdé, i got slammed at the Yard on account

of the b'ful weathre. Couldn't get anothre stick on...

But it rained on Monday causing ROSE to give me an

umbrella that's been 'lying around' the reception area

for almost nine (9) years. Perhaps~it's truly mine.

Wednesday, it was just nice enuf to carry the bicycle

with me to werk. It was also a very safe ride back to

the bunkhaus with my lighting system. {it's true You

never forget how to ride~but Your muscles do!}

Yes, i filled out my CENSUS and sent it in [this seems

to happen every ten years]. And speaking of Pennsy

PolyTryx, which the senses counts: i find it disingenius

for candidates to criticise the incumbents for the recent

Health Reform. Because 'they' weren't in the fight. One

might as well make even broader statements [and law

suits] about not dropping the first A=Bomb OR getting

out of Viet Nam before Kent State?! Just a thot.

There's a lot more to write on a cold day...but i gotta

Oh! MIAMI's girlfriend is cooking for the haus and

Almost A Year Ago: Monday, March 16th, +9...

On my way to werk Saterdé, i found a

dollar on the pavement outside the grox

schtore. And as much as i wanted to cram

it in my own pocket, i lookt around and

askt after two women if they'd lost one.

Sure enuf, the woman just getting into

her auto had droppt it. Honesty--i'll haf

to keep cultivating it for the time being.

Modern Times: Thursday, March 11th, 2o-1o...

Lately i've been finding dimes in the schtreet,

four in one week! {is it becos they are so much

smaller and lighter than pennies to lose?} It was

nice enuf Sunday to take the bicycle out for a

schpin; it'll be awhile until i get back into the

habit of riding it regularly, daily. That night,

there was a wonderful party in Honour of ROCKY's

birfdé at the delicatessen inside the casino. WE

were nine funny people [Honoree, Father, Mother,

Grandmother, Brother, Uncle and three friends] to

our lovely Waitress, SHERI. It was quite schpexial.

{altho i nearly forgot my go=box of corned beef}

The Yard is filling up with regulars, building

toward the frenetics of the Full season. As ever,

they are happy to see me, schtill holding forth in

my cozy boof. At the bunkhaus, meantime, the lovely

Kenyan woman moved to anothre place AND the Concierge

replaced her with a male tenant from one of his othre

buildings. [his^ room is getting a mild up=grade.]

Out=of=doors? Small flowers! Squirls looking for their

nuts! The chirps [and 'tweets'] of retourning birds!

i hope i can remembre to set my clock forward on

For the evening when the Schnow came, i moppt the floor and

cookt a pound of capellini. {Which is a good thing allto}

Glower forgets to send Valentines; Doesn't get any Either Apologiæ

I have an almost perfect picture in my mind of Mac looking after lost

kitties in the after=life, and his Wife judging all the angelic pups before

her...when the both of them aren't busy Interceding for souls!

Happy Saint Valentine's Day, Part Two: That^ was the scmall schnay

which caused me to cut out early from werk last Saterdé...there was a

Greater One in the offing. Yes, i did watch that ballfoot game where

the SAINTS went marching in [and grappled for an onside kick].

It was the most excellent TACO SALAD which was served Tuesday,

of which i doubled up AND also took away a small package of donuts

[this^ afore the shriven Tuesdé]. Like many of the afflicted ones, i

spent more time in the Library. Wednesdé was the Great snow=day,

with Emergencies being posted in many boroughs & townships, with

buses not running at all as the flakes collected...building and burying

each other into Night-Time. Plus+, it was mighty cold as well. It

troubled me greatly to take the whole shift off, 'tho CHICAGO went

into his new werk and made good Time. JERSEY stayed ahome with

me & MIAMI came back to the hostelry after only four (4) hours.

{none of us bunkies can afford to lose time nor money} And it was

a mighty mess in the schtreets of the Walley, for sure. Wintry...

Friday found me traversing the schluschy schnowbanks from Place

to Place--trying to set my taxes aright, gleaning scant Cash for the

weekly rent AND walking as a bundled man from snowpile to snow

pile. Saterdé was a recovery in part of Lost hours and a welcome

visit from the engineer who currently werx on that plant which had

a significant accident. He^ gathered me up, with his own children,

to repast at one of those moderately priced franchise restaurants. It

was the most magnificent of Rides on a chilling February night, with

him=self asking if i was 'ready for the Visitation of the siblings' [my

Sisters & their mighty men]. i nodded my affirmatif Preparedness

acause my own girls have hardly ever knockt me down during Lent!

WE shall see what we shall see--and the week will out.

I have been amazed by the length & breadth of official condolences

showered upon me by functionaries...and only slightly offended by their

question,"Are you the surviving spouse?" It's like a double bolt of irony~

that, altho i did good things for a grand old gal, Her natural husband departed

her more days than 7 years ago. Then, strangely, i feel like a young pharoah

of Egypt when i admit,"I Am the Sun." Moses his=own=self didn't have such

offhanded queries! And He gave us the LAW and the seeds of prophecy!

Monday, February Fifth, And7...it may, in future, be posited & argued

that the Engineer & i went on our Southern Sojourn to escape the troubles

of our own Town & Time--yet it is not true! We carried them with us &

Friday, February Fifth, Twenty-Ten...Death & Taxes...i wandered well

toward the MORAVIAN haus of worship, ostensibly to advantage my

body of doing the taxes in their common room; Yet i could not manage

to squeeze myself in! Astead, i will do them this coming Friday [L willing].

Everhow~there was a wonderful funeral service for my Friend and

customer, BOB. {WE have lost a lot of fine Souls in the coldness: the

Father of REBA, who sold jackpots at the bingo...RENE, who was a folk

singer during those same days...reclusif author J.D. SALINGER...} it was

a surprise to BLAIR the Pastoress that i attended--i informed her of my

connectedness to the body reclining. [NB: Bob was a survivor of the

battle for Iwo Jima] For the evening that the schnow was coming, i moppt

the floors & cookt a pound of capellini.

January 23rd, TURTLE and i made an extensif road=trip

to see relatifs we have [rarely] visited--

I've tried to thank him along the Way for carrying me on

his quest--and letting me drive so much on the Highways.

But, i suppose after twenty=one Days on the Road, he

already knows the truth. More=over, as i was the one who

drove his black beauty up to those relatif doors--wouldn't

they suspect that i was the Pilot?

Wednesday, January 31, 2007--i wandered over to osteo

today but [Cat's Dad] had been released Yesterday! Oh,

well, i like to visit hospitals randomly any=how. Also, i paid

my rent for February; now all i have to do is raise anothre

[amount] for the First of March. It's gonna be tight,

no bout adoubt it. And such a cold month too--so far from

Florida. My ham soop is all put up now--

Well now~here we are. I've been writing journals for many

It's just a thing. It's all an experiment to me and i get to do

it just before my awol runs out.

Sunday, January 17th, 20-10--the Concierge/Hotelier is

surely a force of Nature. He has removed the non-working

clothes warsher AND waxt the folloing floors: the sunroom

[where the 'kitchen sink' is], the shunky [water closet]

and the kitchen [where the range is]. It was a minor

upheaval for the bunkies. While i was at the colonial

cherch, a pretty young thing named CHRISTINE askt me if

i was going to come back. "I'm sure I will,"i said.

{it just mayn't be each and every Sunday, consistently}

Nomenclature! The haus is at full capacity with full

employment, i.e., everyone has a job of some duration. It

occurred to me recently that i could Name all the roomies

by geografical distribution, so here goes: The frontman

could be called MIAMI from his city of origin. Roomy#2

can be signified JERSEY and the woman we rarely see

downstairs might answer to CARIBE [she's an island girl].

Roomy#5 could rightly be named CHICAGO while the newest

resident fair lady seems to be an ALGERIA [French African].

i'll use these Names for awhile until i think of bettre

ones. {G forbid i should use Real and Xian titles on a

public glow} They might refer to me as The NATIVE.

Tuesday, i walkt my bicycle into the nearest cherch

cellar where, aprés Matins, SCOTT filled both tires with

aer. After which~both tires deflated again at odd rates.

That was the Day i luncht at the Soop Kitchen only to

acquire Crumb Coffee Cake for MIAMI...who cleaned the whole

haus kitchen around the breakfast Hour. After my ham bean

lunch, i Visited the ART SKOOL and remembered to submit my

Food Schtamp Survey to the provincial assistance Office.

Wednesday night, after a cold and lonely day of GreenWerk

on the Parish Yard, i fixt myself a handful of K=dogs.

That was also the morning that i trimmed my wild and woolly

wintre beard. {i'll soon tire of clipping and shave her down

to schmooth wigga skin} The beard itself doesn't warm me.

It was yust me and the Pastor on Thursday, and he allowed

me to tote in the bike [only one tire had flattened]. Later,

i wandered all=round town for nearly nothing...CHICAGO had

Text: Who's to say who's on and who's off? i droppt in on my

Supervisor yesterdé and she told me i was to have normal hours

throughout the year. Great news! Altho, the sign on my gate still

reads of curtailed Days and Times. {i'll haf to cast back my app

for unemployment which the Keystoners can't afford anyway}

On New Year's Day, the hotelier came through & thoroughly

cleaned the common areas. A fresh start. The feast at CAT's

haus was also a grand Beginning, what with the porkloin and

cookt sauerkraut, freshly masht potatoes, kielbasas & squash.

{i almost could not finish my piece of Jane's strawberry and

rhubarb cake} Let's not forget the applespice wine and leaded

coffee. Up=the=full we seven (7) ate while amateurs schlept.

On Sunday [1-3-1o], i cookt a ham dinner for four with the

twenty pound ham which the Frontman received as a holiday

bonus. [He had said,"You Americans make a good ham dinner."]

My sides were simple and hearty: boiled quartered red potatoes

with fresh parsley, simmered green beans and garlic bread. The

bunkies enjoyed it completely...altho there is much meat overleft.

{i may never get Portly until i learn to make desserts.}

Enuf about masticating while the bittre, brutal, windy Arctic cold

bites into January like a fierce beast! The water=bottles in my

boof were frozen solid when i got to werk Yesterdé; and bundled

in my bindle i was more than fortunate to receive a 'tote home'

from one of the Public Werkers. [The very man who placed that^

shack on its cozy corner of Our werld] Yet, as cold as is, i dress

for the Weather as my Father taught me--layer upon layer and

covered up from top to toes like a walking talking mattress!

Aday, amorning, WE were eight (8) at AnteCommunion folloed

by a right-leaning roundtable of modern Occurences. {i gently

reminded the Pastor that there is an 'ess' at the end of the Name

of a certain prominent Golfer} My laundry is most done, especially

the good thermals from my Sister. Days are actually lengthening.

Sunday, November 29th, °9...iffen it's a Sabbath, i just musta done

my Laundry. {it's a modern ponderance on which Day believers are

supposed to abandon werk} i was quite late for the LoveFeast on

Livingston; i totally misst the cherub choir. But i made it for the

special Advent meal--coffee-cake with chocolate milk Communion.

[i do know the houses in which to Receive bread and chalice wine.]

There was some=one else in my orbit who required both Toast and

cow=juice...the frontman of the hostelry, Roomy #1. He is recently

back from a sunny vacation and not yet caught back into the rhythm

of the city. Over=more, he did not escape the many troubles by going

abroad...his luggage stoppt in MIAMI but he continued on; the laptop

he acquired to replace his stolen one was also stolen! Some trip.

Thursday, the engineer catcht me up in his newish Chevy Cobalt for

a sojourn to ALEXANDRIA. It was the nearest perfect Thanksgiving

ever acause Kay and Harry prepared everything aforehand with nary

any discernible problems; the Turtle and i just had to behave as nice

Guests, something we nearly always do. A very pleasant short stay.

Friday, we connected with CAT and the kids...all three doing well in

our infrequent absences. ROCKY is werking worthily and BLADE

is drifing his own car! Would as much could be said of me after i get

my bicycle tire fixt?! There is happyness on evry new Horizon.

Of the werk i my=self enjoy, many othre good things can be said: i

have received my ten year/tenure certificate of Public Service along

with a thirty dollar ($30) gift card AND i shall continue to serve extra

cool dark hours through December 31st. {my favourite Customers are

schtill quite baffled that i am on hire 'Year=Round'} The two wintre

months i am shortened will provide from the Provider, alltogethre.

i could write a novel about the Misadventures which took place here

within the Haus while JONNY JUICE was residing on the third floor

with his retinue of boogalooes...but the HouseHolder put him out &

no=one has heard nor seen of JONNY yet or since. Bad kismet...

broth while i celebrate the birthing Day of my niece who claims she

record six of Us] AND helpt fill the Methodist food pantry

[there was a record eight of us for a light load]. Morning

being early, i Visited my girl=friends JANE & PEARL at the

market, took the NOON A=bus toward the Career centre

where everyone is looking for an Assignment, bounced of

the G buses to Attend the ribbon-cutting by the Mayor

for the refurbisht national hamburger schtand AND came

home in Time to confab with the LandLord on the Lanai

as he struggled to fill his haus with persons nearly as

tenable/tenantable as my=self. {i abide & reside well}

On account of, [and because] i am now Visiting

the central arts district--i've scored and sent a

handful of arty post=cards to my Friends using

salvaged 32¢ schtamps. {is it Possible, in this Age

of instantaneity, to write and Compose cards and

lettres? hmm} Of this^, i may be Amembered.

So there i was with my bindle, walking along the

secondary twixt 13th & 14th Avenues, when a

middling blonde sitting upon a schtoop Aquired

of me,«Hey! What's your name?» Being a friendly

person, i introduced my=self to her & she to me.

She made othre queries of me as we schpoke

briefly, and She offered me a swig of fortified

beer...at a quarter to Eleven in the city morning?!

For all my need of such compromised pulchritude,

i elected to continue on and go to werk. The man

gave me quizzicle looks as i left; he called after me,

«Things are rough.» Perhaps~i was Solicited, may

wise the Woman was merely a lonesome Angel.

To the propreity and intention of the Man, i have

So there i was, last Sun*Day, all risen up at Eight

of my Customers with her fambly And she says hello.

Tuesday, August Fourth, andNine...i am going to begin this

entry at the beginning and move back=wise, not becos i like

to Live in the Past, but becos it'll be easier to amembre

evything and not get schtuck! {this doesn't mean it will

make any more or less sense than any othre entry, but heck,

who knows?} Todé, i woke again before the radio alarm went

off at six thirty. i gulped down a malted moka, threw on

some clothes and ambled into the small cherch that sits just

about kitty-corner to the boarding haus [the Maple Street

Motel]. There i did vespers with DON and SCOTT. i haf done

enuf Mourning prayers AND now am learning Morning prayers.

By the Time i got back to the Porch, TRAVIS was waiting

there for Roomy #4. They are laying carpet in Bohemia while

the MUSIKFEAST is going on. The city of Bohemia is building

greater things faster than the city WE call 'home', but WE

are gradually starting to catch up. The boys departed fast

and forcefully, leaving me to cook my Morning salsa eggs.

i strolled uptown to Visit a bank and a credit union for

the short green, noticing five (5) of my Fellow afflicted

ones on the journey. It was a time of Day and Moment on

retourning to gathre my dirty clothes and such for a very

needed warshing at the Laundromat-on-the-Mall. [Whites &

Darks living togethre in the seabag which has travelled

from the port of LeHavre and through the Suez Canal...]

The day became hot as i laboured--i took the fresh clean

totebags from the Room to the old neighbourhood Groxery

schtore, where i purchased good fresh food by using my

government=issued plastic electronicle FOOD STAMP card.

i 'spect there will be a chicken soop in my future acause

i bot All the ingredients for it...celery, garlic & the

schplit breasts which will become the Base of it. *tote*

Monday was a tad wacky; the LandLord came onto the Deck

with a shopping bag full of cucumbres?! There musta been

like two dozen of these full=sized beauties. i remembre

my-own-self having too many of such things when i howed

a garden at the Hovel, and that was only a single Vine.

Even Pastor DON took a couple away--even though i had

thoroughly missed vespers. Quite a few slices of one went

into my 'werk=salad'. i was present when CINDY, the girl

carrier PostMan delivered my plastic Food Stamp card...

and, Acause my change of address has been recently mildly

confused, She said,«We'll get You all your mail as soon

as we figure out where You're Living.» To which i replied,

«When You find out where i'm Living~would You please Tell

me?» i believe she Understood the faciety of that remark.

Werk at the Parish went well until a certain mini=van

came and left three (3) discrete messes for me to clean.

He's a regular customer and should not have abused the

Yard so much after my first Avisement. Yet~it is the high

point of the Season & i'm sure he was in a hurry to fill

my bins with his branches. Customer/friend BRIAN gave me

a ride to the old Neighbourhood at the close of Gates.

Later that same evening: Roomy #2 was cooking himself a

burger when he Popped into my door--«Is that Your bread?

Could I maybe borrow a couple of slices?» i told him to

help himself [becos the bread was freely given to me and

it wasn't in my Powre to deny it to any=one]. Plus+, i

have just moved from the lonely austerity of three years

in a Grand place to the bettre sharing Venue of Life on

the common schtreets! {Whatever i leave out, which isn't

thrown away, belongs to All my Companions, nonewitheld}

Domingo, the Lord's dé, was also the Meeting of the

clique, the clan, the Fierce Five by Favourability...

and all those othre Names & titles by which it might could

be referred to. Originally~the COLONEL had simply planned

to drop in on me for a Sunday brunch between festivities

in the Coal=Town where Lovely THERESE was turning eighty.

{He envisioned a stop-and-go, a loving liaison apart from

"Inquisition"} But, as it happened, All the clusters were

in one Centrality and the full Avantage was took of it.

Of and For my=self, i ate a fried egg sandwich while

Roomy #1 was cleaning out his Abode. My seven o'clock

showre behind me, i traversed undre G's cloudy rainy day

toward the Calvarite cherch. It was the contemporary mass

of type--a sort of XIAN KARAOKE. Emotionally moving. And

there was the kaffeklatsch afterwise where i had my third

and fourth cups of Java along with Yogurt dresst fruit,

a large blueberry muffin and a chunk of schticky bun. The

Pastoress was behind herself to find me as my Sister buzzt

my fone=cell, yet i managed to tell BLAIR the many things

of my previous week in the Walley [again of Centrality^].

KAY and HARRY ferried me to our favourite greek diner,

where they consumed their brunch and i drank even more

coffee?! That is, until i let out a yelp when the waitress

came around the third time to warm me over. Becos it was

such a rainy dé, we opted for an indoor excursion at the

book outlet attached to the Big Mall. And anothre moka.

Soon enuf, it was time to meet up with the othres at the

motel. {You could try to fit five persons into the room

i'm borroing, but it certainly would not be Comfortable}

The summit was amiable and cordial, loving and Affirming.

Assuredly~i have a lot more werk to do on the Journey

before i am retourned to full faith and surety in All.

For dinner at the steakhaus, We were nine--three couples

and three singletons. [LIZ was the third loner.] MAISY

and LOO were kind enuf to drop me at the flop.

Saterday was a normal werkday, not counting the mob

in the morning And that KAY and HARRY pickt me up at the

end of it. We supped that night at the ristorante near

the Women's College. {i cleaned my plate at both dinners}

Friday was the first morning i got up early enuf for

the vespers. And~it was the first day i also volunteered

to help at anothre Food Pantry. At first, the cherch

secretary tried to turn me away, saying,«We don't hand out

the Groceries until tomorrow.» It took some explaining on

my part to clarify that i wisht to Contribute my Labour,

not Gather the gleanings. Eventually, i joined the crew

of about eight people [including PASTOR JIM] offloading

two skids and a vanful of donated items. It took us nearly

two hours on that schticky morning. Then i scored my

money order for the LandLord, droppt it in the box and

went on my own little grox run. After visiting the Library

and taking a power=nap, i even managed to help Roomy #4

bring some of his belongings to the third floor with his

current/former girlfriend. A day for Lifting...

Cronkite reports. It don't seem like

forty (40) years ago, but that's the

way it was. i was camping then

and i'm camping now. There was a

small black & white television set

mounted high on the wall of the

canteen. It was rarely if ever used

while the campers were there...too

much othre schtuff going on. We

did have movies in that Venue;

they were screened with a real

projector. But on this night--the

entire contingent of residents was

gathered to watch a fuzzy white

blob of a man bouncing off an

equally fuzzy ladder to alight on a

grey dusty faraway surface...Luna.

{the irony of it only occurs to me

now: Neil and 'Buzz' would schpend

their night on the moon; we campers

were overnighters of a smaller kind}

Me? i only liked the cantina because

i could purchase milky way® bars.

Michael Collins? He was the Valet.

July 20th, °6...it was two (2) days

after settlement on Hane's hovel.

Around Noon, i carried this huge

cheque to my bank, deposited ALL

of it & cut four (4) certifies to my

favourite brothres and sisters [two

of each]. Twenty minutes later, all

the shares were in the mail. {it had

crosst my mind during the trial, to

cash the big cheque and roll around

in the filthy papre before sending it}

Lizard & cousin Steve visited me

later that evening and i bot them

dinner at the five-point steakhaus.

Funny~i didn't feel at all rich.

July 2009...it wasn't at all long ago

that MAISY askt me,"You do like

living with People, don't you?" What

a large filosofical question! i suppose

it would depend on the 'people'. As

it is--i very much like the people i'm

Living [camping] with now. And i've

always been perfectly happy to meet

schtrangers and make them into

friends. {do i have charm? and is it

natural OR cultivated?} These are the

days and Times for it, what with my

new VOTER card & my open food

stamp file. OH! and the vanity in

our upstairs bath--no more shaving

in the kitchen for this vagabond.
